| I created an image in Photoshop that has a transparent background. I inserted it into Microsoft Publisher and then converted it to a PDF. The problem is, after I convert it to PDF, the image with the transparent background is distorted. I tried saving it as a GIF and as a PNG. I get the same results both ways. This has happend to me on more than one occasion and I would like to know what to do to remedy this. Thanks! |

This may sound a tad sarcastic, and probably isn't that helpful, but my best advice is to quit using Microsoft Publisher. It's not that I have anything against Microsoft or their products, but Adobe's Creative Suite was designed to maximize file compatibility between applications. Even Pagemaker would put you within the same company, software-wise.
My only other suggestion would be to see if Microsoft Publisher supports Photoshop (.psd) format. If so, go to Preferences>File Handling and turn on the "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" to see if this clears up your problem.

| Well, the company I work for would have to make the call to switch software, so that's not really a viable option for me. The IT guys balked at the $700 they spent on Photoshop. I don't think it's a problem with Publisher. I shows up just fine and I can print from Publisher just fine. But when it turns into a PDF, that image looks terrible. |
