I don't have access to my Photoshop computer right now, so I apologize if this is a tad vague but:
It sounds to me like your selections are being feathered. Go to Select>Feather and make sure it is set to 0 pixels.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you can try modifying your selection by a set number of pixels. This command is also found under the Select menu.

| its not feathered..... its like, instead of choosing either 50 or 51 pixels(which ever the cursor is closer to) it chooses 50.2 or 50.7 or something like that. when i cut it, it fades the very edge line of pixels depending on how far or close i was to how many pixels the image actually has. if i cut it at 50.2 pixels... the image would still be 51 pixels, but the 51st line would be very faded. i want it to be like paint where it will choose a whole amount of pixels with no 'inbetween'..... this is only noticable when i cut apart my image and ut them back together in a web page(by the way, its not the coding that messes it up, im sure that its photoshop doing this).... i cant find the selection modifier. im using CS2 |

The modify menu can be found under Select>Modify. There are four option under the modify menu: Border, Smooth, Expand, and Contract.
I must admit I'm stumped on this one. Not sure if the modify menu will help or not, but it's worth a look.

| no, the modify menu can only add pixels to the selection. it doesnt even them out so that theres no tenths of a pixel |
