hello i'm currently drawing (with Illustrator CS) a 2-dimensional cross-section of the back of a digital camera, with controls LCD screen etc.

I know how to do this in Photoshop. I would draw the shape then use bevel in the blending options. You know the effect i mean. It gives it some depth by giving the appearance of a slight curve with shading and lighting.

How can i do this in Illustrator?

Check out the 3D and Stylize menus under the Effect drop down. Maybe this could help.
