Ok to start with make the animation for the litle squares in a movei clip called 'square', then add some text and convert it to a button. Now if you double click on the button it should come up with a different timeline with only four frames. The first is what the button norally looks like, second is when you rollover it, third is when you click on it and the fourth is what the buttons hit area is.
Now if you make a new key frame on the second and last frame. The with the last frame add a solid square covering the area of the screen you want the user to be able click. Then on the second frame add the movie clip of the square where you want it. That should then work when published.
If thats abit to messy for you to understand then i will make a quick .fla for you to look at. Hope this helps.

Well if you open the .fla in flash then press F11, this will show you the components used. You can double click on these to change things like text. Also if you look at the main screen and double click on the text you will see the frames for this button, here you can also change the look/text. By double clicking on the litle squares you can change them to. There is no code at all used in this document. Glad I could be of assistance.
