Probably, but that's Maxtor. WD is like the Ferrari of the harddisks. Comparing those, Maxtor is more like a Volkswagen...

I had a WD HD and it crashed about 3 days after my guarantee went out. After that i have never trusted WD. Now I use either Maxtor or Seagate (barricuda).

Seagate is definetely a good choice. I've never had any trouble with any Seagate hdd whatsoever. I'm using an 80Gb 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda now, and I'm still in the posession of an old 1.0Gb 5200rpm Seagate ^_^ (Yes... it does work! Pretty cool to use as a swap memory disk)

ReFredzRate: What you're saying about WD was true like 3-5 years ago, the quality of their drives has hit the floor.

Top quality drivers come fram seagate and IBM; those are the only two brands that I'll put into any of my servers.

IBM isnt a trust worthy brand when it comes to HDD. Many of my friends have proofs.

IBM doesen't develop HDDs anymore, Hitatchi do that for IBM, and they work much better than the IBM discs.

Malcolm could be right Smile I have some Seagate's and they still work like a charm. However, I've had two Maxtor's that stopped working on me. One of them, 40Gb 5400rpm, started getting a bit weird. When my system was on, it would start running and stop right after that again. This would go on as long as the system was running. Wasn't funny :/
