Hi! I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if I'm in the right place yet to ask this question - if not, please direct me to the correct forum.

I'm trying to find software/extensions/plug-ins that will help compress photoshop images. We are currently using InterChange Pro on an extremely elderly Mac OS9 computer. This software was able to compress image almost 75% smaller which is great for file sizes in Quark (6.5) and PDFs which we both post and send out to press. This elderly computer is on it's last legs and it's the last one we have that runs OS9 and this program properly. I have been searching for something else that can do a good job at compressing images that will also print well at press - we have over 17,000 images on file. I have been looking at ProJpeg by BoxTop Software and nobody there seems to want to return any of my e-mail inquiries. On their site, it says that this is a plug-in that works well for image compression for use on the web - I want to know if this would also work well for press.

Does anybody use this plug-in, how does it work (I can't even get it to work) or do you know of something lese out there that could help?

Thanks so much for any help you can offer. Sad

I took a look at the site for Fotosizer and others like it (Resizer, etc.) and they don't do what I need. I do not need to resize the actual image - I need to compress the file size itself. Each image we receive from our suppliers is different so they need to be treated differently before they are batch compressed. Some images need to be over 7" in size because they will be scaled larger for posters and some will be under 3" because they will be product inset shots.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate the effort even if it wasn't what I was looking for.
