Hi,

I am new to photoshop and I need of your help. I searched Google for this but in vain.

I have the following 5 images and I want to merge (or whatever you guys call it in your graphical language) them all and create a single header for my new site. Giving it one color tone which is #456389.

http://www.imagebam.com/image/2e932b5247952 http://www.imagebam.com/image/b7d8765247954 http://www.imagebam.com/image/b19c8b5247955 http://www.imagebam.com/image/e87e7e5247956 http://www.imagebam.com/image/2b9ebb5247957

For example i got the following header from a site and this guy has used 6-7 images to create one single header. Also see the images has one single color tone matching the color theme of that site.

Please guide me the steps how do I use the above 5 images to create one single header in Photoshop.

You can experiment with all kinds of things.

Reducing the opacity on layers.
You can also add a duotone to layers. This can only be done in Photoshop, if you have Photoshop Elements you can create the same effect by creating a fill layer with 'Overlay.'
Another technique is to add a feather to the outter edge of the image:
Select an area then go: Select > Modify > Feather..
And delete the selected area.
The layer effects are usful. Some good ones are: Soft Light, Hard Light and Overlay. These can be mixed with reducing opacity if needed.

For the keyboard, I would suggest cutting out the background around it.

If you would like me to post some examples of these techniques, let me know!

With this picture I blended the two photos with 'Feather'
Select > Modify > Feather
Overlap the images in the middle > With each image select the blank space on their layer (individually) > Open Feather and choose a number (I usually use 10, if you are not happy with the result, you can always undo in the History panel) > Once both images are feathered on the meeting edge, move them around until they blend into one another.

Blending with a feather looks the best when both images have similar colours.

With this image I deleted the yellow at the top of the keyboard image, and added a feather. I then changed the opacity of the keyboard to 42%

With this image the bridge is the background, and had nothing done to it.

Both of the other images I copied into a new document and made it into a duotone:
Image > Mode > Grayscale (as only Grayscale images can be made into Duotones) > Image > Mode > Duotone
In the Duotone window, used a gray as one colour and a light blue for the other. You can then experiment with the graph. With the Preview clicked on, you can view what you are modifying. Then I copied them back to the original file.

The keyboard layer effect is Soft Light, and the other image has the effect of Lighten, (these layer effects are found next to Opacity in the Layers Palate.)

What address shall I send the psd files to? Flicr wont let me upload that extention.
