error message...scratch disks are full?
Does anyone know what this means, just installed photoshop 6 on a new computer (win xp prof)
Your help would be appreciated. |

Usually what it means is that you're out of RAM on your computer. Photoshop is a huge memory hog- in it's default state, it sets aside 70% of your computer's available RAM for its own use.
The best solution is, of course, to add more RAM to your computer, but this isn't always feasible, so here are a few other things you can try:
The first thing I would try is to shut down any other programs you have running. This by itself can often solve the problem. Next I would get into Photoshop's preferences, and reduce the number of history states. This states how far you can "undo" things in the history palette.
As a last resort, you can get into preferences, and allocate more memory to Photoshop. This can cause problems though, if you don't leave the computer enough memory to run it's basic operations. If you do this, I'd highly recommend increasing the memory in 5% steps, and retrying things.
Sometimes, just saving the image and reopening it will allow you to go on for a bit before running into the error again.

try this method
while you are runnin PS hold " Ctrl+Alt"
then the window of scrach disks will appear
in the first option change it from "startup" to "D"
or any hard disk you have and it has a big free capacity |
