| I have no idea what's happening... As usual, I save the photoshop file with the layers first. But as I save it to JPEG or GIF, the whole window closes... |

I sometimes have that problem with Freehand, I press print, and the application quits out.
I suggest re installing Photoshop, that will re set all the settings. Always works for me. |

| o.o I'll have to ask my dad first then... I suppose that will also get rid of the problem I've been having with the cursor? All of a sudden, it will change to that hand cursor and wouldn't change back... |

hi,
I don't know if you have any other issue with the computer and sometimes important to know....
what you might try first before reinstalling.... first purge your internet cache and then defrag .... in many ways this can cure a lot of issues...
you might also try turn off some programs running in the background... possibility of some conflicts cause your issue..

Erm, what's defrag? And my internet auto deletes all history and cache once I close the window.
What kinds of programs would be running in the background? Sorry, I don't know much cause I'm still under aged and all |

Defarg is a system tool it orginises the segmants on your hard drive so your computer runs faster and more smooth, over time your hard drive gets frigmentated so programs have to work harder to find things they need here is where it is.
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter.
Befor you defrag use disk cleanup also in system tools that will get rid of any lost file fragments and none needed data for you it will also check the drive for bad sectors sometimes defrag wont start with out doing this first.
If you have a lower spec computer some times programs like yahoo or msn can take up alot of resorces (memory and cpu) so it may be you need to have just photoshop running alone .
hope this helps
Regards

hi,
I see Raven12388 andswered your first part of the question about defrag..... to give another way to look at it.... when you use various files... a file may have parts of it itself scattered on the hard drive.... this is called fragemented.... when a hard drive has too many fragmentedd file the system can have hard time finding all of the segments in a timely manner..... and things don't work right and/or very slow....!! .... so what defrag does is put all the peices of a fragmented file to gether and consoladate space on the hard drive... end result the system run a lot better, more stable and a little faster....
now program running in the background.. when your system boots up there is a lot of programs that start up on there own.... now some are needed but others are not.... a couple of the startup programs can be seen in your notification area , bottom right hand corner where the time is,
now if there is too many of these programs starting up at windows boot.. they can/will slow your system.. they can cause conflilct with other programs where they crash or they do not work right...... generally when running some heavy duty program or games you generally like to turn off allthose needless programs.... to make sure they don't cause problems and sluggishness....
now if you want to see all the little programs that running in the background go to your run command and type msconfig.exe and then click the startup tab... that will show you what running....
let your father decide on what not needed... disable the wrong program can cause problems...
