| Does anyone if the W3C (world wide web consortium) and its affiliates have decided to allow the .xxx domain name extension? When will it be decided, just curious? |

On March 30 2007. ICANN rejected the proposal a third time. So it doesnt look like it will happen.

On a new note ICANN released a new statement that brings hope to all the businesses that wanted a custom domain suffix. http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2220275/icann-promises-web-boom. Got to wait till 2009 though, I wonder how much it will cost?!
Also non-Latin characters will be allowed opening the Internet further to other languages (Chinese, Arabic etc...)

I was listening to a podcast, I think it was "The Web Hosting Show" and going by the way they were talking it's going to cost a lot, they were saying that it would only be for the big multi million companies with lots to spare would be able to afford them it's not going to be for everyone . |

Well i'm sure the majority of businesses wouldn't have need for one i suppose. But it will be good for things like banks and other areas of businesses instead of individual businesses themselves. It will surely be an interesting thing to see who buys them though.
