hi,
now i have ps element 5 and ps cs ... elements 4 should be the same way...
1. you'll only be dealing with the quality setting when you save in jpg!! the other formats like psd or tif or png, etc.... it doesn't apply, h ence there is no quality setting!!! it only applies to jpg....
and the reason is the higher the quality the less compression involved with a jpg image... and hence the higher the compression the poorer the quality!! ...
2. generally when you either save for the web or do a save as and your saving in jpg you will get windows where you can adjust the quality level you want.!

Like jerryB said, quality is only concerned when saving as JPG.
If your saving an image as a new JPG it should remember the last save setting. If you are re saving a previous JPG it will default to whatever the quality was on the JPG prior. That is my understanding at least. |

| Perhaps you're right. It seems sometime in the past, I was able to set the quality so that it always opened on the highest quality of 12. I prefer to use this setting for all my Jpegs and its much easier not to have to remember to reset it to 12 each time I close an edit. Thanks for the enlightenment. |
