I've just started using the new CS2, (I've been a PhotoShop user since Verson 4). It's really pretty neat, but I seem to have hit one problem that's going to send me back to CS if I can't solve it. When I, (I use "I" because it may be unique to me), try to open up my tiff images in Bridge, (the new browser), the default is to open it up in PAINT!!!!! I can't seem to open tiff images up into Photoshop from bridge - though I can if I use the regular "open" command - not in the bridge. Also, I have no problem with my JPEG images. I've tried to find out how to change this default, but can't seem to manage it. And these days there seems to be no way to get help from PhotoShop - unless one wants to pay #156 annually for the privelege!!!!

Can anyone help me? Any ideas?

Thanx
Joy

Hi and welcome to DEVPPL.

I also use CS2 and can't open .tiff images. I don't know if it could be fixed. I made a google search for it and found this page: http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/tiff/index.html

Maybe you can google for photoshop tiff support or something and find some extention. I have no idea, never used .tiff -images.

Thanks for the tip, but I looked at that page and couldn't find any help. You *can* open tiff images in CS2 - you just can't open them to photoshop in Bridge. The default is PAINT, of all things! But they open to Photoshop outside of Bridge - by just using the open command directly. However, I hate giving up the convenience of using Bridge to open up my images.

They simply *has* to be a way to change the default from paint to photoshop when opening TIFF images from Bridge. But I can't find out how anywhere.

this often the problem with Photoshop - there just isn't adequate support any more. There certainly used to be - and there should be for such an expensive program.
