awww i want one too Sad if they weren't so pricy the number would be way bigger! I guess introducing Mac mini was a very smart move of Apple.

I would get one if they didn't cost somuch juts since I'm planning to work withng graphic design and they use Mac in that field of work.
I agree with lalalogic, if they didn't cost so much they would have many more users.

They have come down significantly in pricing. The iMac you are getting for $1700 is really good. Not the most expandable but it comes with it's own screen and up to 2 gigs of ram.
The low end iBook starts at $1000 and for $2000 you can get a very nice G5.
I agree that Apple has been over priced but you pay for what you get and now they are just making it better.

A good site to check out is http://www.systemshootouts.org/ They compare (very fairly) 2 of a certain price point usually an Apple and Dell.

I take it none of you have heard about the leak of the leak of the apple developers pack. As some of you may know Apple are parting with the PowerPC chipsets and hooking up with intel and as the whole OSX architecture has changed. The leaked Intel version of OSX is available from some torrent sites and it works brilliantly. I run OSX on my IBM Thinkpad which cost me £500 and is faster than the 17" Powerbook on paper and a hell of alot faster than the clock and memory speeds say it should be. The next version of OSX will be very very efficient.

OSX on x86? More info at:
