A crossed icon?

A crossed icon?

Postby Pazazico on Sat Jan 01, 2011 8:04 pm

Hey, I'm pretty much new but I have this one simple (or it may not be) major problem.

Whenever I do use the brush/eraser, any tool on the panel, there's this cross sign on them, say a rubber, there's a thick line over that icon, and you can;t use it. Happens to every other tools.

Secondly, when I use eraser, I try to rub it off but then the colours appear back up, ARGH.

ARGHHH, I'm trying out new things and they're making this stressy as hell -.-

Help?
Thanks in advance.

How do I exactly do that? I've searched all over the net. Nothing. Or I didn't look hard enough -.-

We are all beginners at some time go to the far upper left corner where you see the picture of the brush. Right click on the tool and you will get an option to reset the tool or all tools. Might want to reset all tools.

If that doesn't work here is a tip to reset photoshop. To do this shut down photoshop then you can restart it. On start (before it actually comes up) press the control. shift alt keys. You will get a pop up that says "Delete photoshop settings file?" Click yes and the program will start. You will get another pop up asking if you go to the graphic card acceleration website. If you have already been using ps your card is already set so click no and tick the box don't show this message again. You will be starting with a clean version of ps software and will need to reset any options you may have used in the past.

Good Luck

Or you can reset all to default

First, hold down all three Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons
Now "while keeping those button held," simply open Photoshop or a file that opens with Photoshop
As Photoshop loads, you should get a prompt asking if you would like to "delete the Photoshop settings file", Click yes
You should now have a fresh slate with all of the settings returned to their default.
