Access Denied PhpMyAdmin

I just changed my password for the root user to ensure security just like phpadmin tells you to do however now when I try to login I get an access denied page. I know the password I just don't know how to input it so I can get back to mysql. Any suggestions?

There's a file "config.inc.php" in the phpmyadmin directory that might plaintext list your password as it feeds it to phpmyadmin on startup.
