I am sure you have them in napal but probably call them another name.. you probably got clubs at your college or high school ..
but basically just a small group of people with similar interests that meets 1 or more time a month to socialize and discuss and share what ever things the club members want generally at some one home or some other place...
if a very small club there not much organization but if the club gets large enough then organizations become alittle more important...
for example.. one pc club had about 20 regular people that would show up at the meeting.. and the membership was about 80 members total.. in that situation we had a president, secretary, treasure .... and we had our meeting at the local community center ..
note: the secretary/treasure... depending on what members expect.. they keep trck of club members.. collect dues (to cover cost of maybe coffee and cups ) and maybe send out a monthly news letter ... the last depends on on how large the club is if one is sent out...
generally the routine would be..
1. the president or designator come in early to set things up maybe make coffee...
2. for a short period there is a sort of just general socialization....
3. then at the designated time the club meeting starts.... the actual meeting may last 1-2 hours ... varies..
4. there maybe given a lecture on some pc issue or of interest to the members.... or demonstration of a program or how to do some thing..
5. we generally have a question and answer perirod where everyone ask questions and help each other with the answers..
that basically it.... many clubs will also have a website.....
now how they function in society or rather how do they relate to the community at large.... well that depends on the club members and what they want to do!!!!!!!!
for example
1. both clubs i used to be a member of, the members volunteer to help non members... some one would call the club and say some one needs help in learning the basic of the pc or to fix a problem ... something like that...
2. if the resources of the club large enough.. they can do more.. such as...
a. one club would help train school teachers in operating different kinds of pc's
note: the school district had a train van to take to the various schools to train teachers and we would help operte the training van..
b. we had a ongoing project where we helped some schools wire the school to where the school room had interent access.... we get the local phone company to provide free the material such as cable and cable boxes connectors and such and we provide the free labor and expertise to install it....
this can also be very benifical to the club, besides a certain gratification of helping... in the case of helping out the school district they gave us, free of charge, a place to hold our large meeting.. that club had a meeting size of about 200 smiling... also with another clubs,,, we held pc and interent classes for senior people at a community center and the community center gave us space to hold our meetings...
well that about it...
