Baby announcements

Hello. I am just learning photoshop and have a ? I was hoping someone could help me with. I have been searching the web and have found little info on how to do this is Photoshop (cs3)...
I would like to make something (a baby announcement) that has a black background with a couple different sized photos on top...and coloured type that would list the baby's name,D.O.B., etc.....where-how do I even start??? MANY thanks in advance,

Alright, your best friend as a newcommer will be using a good tutorial site like for instance DEVPPL's own tutorial section or http://www.good-tutorials.com.
You can basicly find anything you need there.

To create a black blackground just simply make a new file (ctrl + n) choose your required size and set the background color to black.

Well, an important aspect of using photoshop is of course using photos.
You can either use your own photos, but if you feel you don't have that many images, do not fear.
Try taking a look at this site http://www.sxc.hu
If you make an account you can download as many free stockphotos you want. And there are tons there ..
You could do a search for " baby angels" or what ever might support your theme and lend a couple of photos

Another important (and easy) part is brushing.

(I'll edit this post later to give you a more specific url).
With theese extra brushes you can easily add .. let's say blood splatter (I know this doesn't support your theme, but I couldn't think of anything else xD).
