Barcode tatoo...

Postby alexajoy on Thu May 24, 2007 9:35 am

Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone knew the most effective way to superimpose a barcode image onto the contours of a ripped back (i.e. muscle contours)? I've done this kind of thing before and know it involves defining the landscape contours but have forgotten all the jargon and am not having much luck searching the net.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. :)

Thank you
Al

Use the search feature (top left), and you'll find that there is a tutorial for adding tatoos in the tutorial section.

Thank you for your reply. The tutorial you pointed out is okay for overlaying designs onto fairly flat surfaces. The tatoo I am usual, however, needs to be rendered over a very ripped, undulating surface.

The Liquify tool can be used to tweek, however I believe there is a way of defining the landscape contour and usual this information mathematically to render. It is exactly this step I have forgotten how to do.

Once this is done, the skew/distort/liquify/opacity tools come in very handy to get the perspective and surface appearance looking realistic.

Any help on the contour mapping would be great. As I mentioned earlier, there is a term for this procedure, but it eludes me!! :-\

what you are looking for is displacement mapping. Google that and you should come up with a ton of hits.

Here is one that i came up with: http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/cb/displace.html
