hi,
I think your going to have to email gustav for finding out what paper they used.. generally though they use a cheap kind of glossy paper that for offset oilbased printing ... but that a guess on my part... you might be interested in these two articles from the same site..

now you'll find it going to be a glossy paper.. however.. glossy paper is made for different kinds of printer.. for example... i bought some glossy paper for my inkjet just smeared!!! well it turns out that that paper wans't made for the waterbased inkjet printer but for oil based printers...

you might also want to email these people to find out specifics about the various kinds of magazine paper.... they seems to be the biggest supplier

that about all i can say... good uck

Thanks for the help. I've emailed the magazine in the hope that they get back to me with the specifics.

I know that they don't print on the standard glossy magazine stuff, it's a much heavier weight of paper and is matt (but almost seems to have a hint of gloss to it).

And this is going to be professionally printed, so it's not a case of me hoping these things work fin in my home printer (though thanks for the concern!)

hi,
your welcome... but wasn't sure if i really gave you that much help...

i could only guess why the question.. sometimes the why is just as important as the question itself.. smiling..

but anyway.... although you a hear lot about either glossy or matte

i am wondering if what your seeing is a satin finish???? it sort of in between the two....!!! i generally notice used in photographs...

also if you already have a shop identified who you want to do it.. you might check with them.... they might even show or give you samples of
paper that they have in stock!!! ....

another idea... don't know where you located, but in cities, there gnerally a paper warehouse wholesale/retail.. .. for example... when i lived in SD .. there was one and they had allllll kind of paper about at least 100 different kinds for all kind of ink and printers , type of finishes, etc. .... well not only did they have handout for there customers on the various papers and such but they even gave me free samples to work with... I learned an awful lot about ink and paper ...lol from that store..
