Can Photoshop CS5 automatically create color shade samples

Postby johnharlin on Mon Mar 21, 2011 6:20 am

What I'd like to have Photoshop do is automatically create a palette of different shades of a single color so that I can print it out and then go to the place and compare the shades to try to find a perfect match of the shade of color I need. Can Photoshop do this automatically so I don't have to manually make three or four hundred different palettes of colors.

hi,
I don't if thiere a nice one click of the button that wil do it i don't think so... now i have just cs1 so maybe there something in cs5.... although over the years i have seen the issue of a color pallet or color table... ps seems to be very weak in.... i can only say how i might do it cs1....

create your gradient......

put in your range of the two strongest colors you want like a strong green and a very week green.... and you want a smooth transition.....

then apply it to a white background..... maybe even doing some minor adjustments on color or opacity....

then index ,,, that will merge all the layers....

the go to the "color table " in the image>mode>color table...

now at this point you'll see a wide ranege of color shades..... at that point....

do a screen copy of it and then paste into a new file and resize and print...

there maybe some soft ware plug in that will do this automatically .... one would have to look...

keep in mind if monitor is not caibrated to the printer color shades can be off when when printing...

another idea i had... get a good size , good resolution color chart that has the base color you want... and then change the hue and saturation for the range you want...

hopefully some one will come up with a lot better answer than mine
