Convert stroke to shape?

Postby thehen on Sun May 27, 2007 12:45 pm

Hey,

Is it possible to convert a stroke layer style to a shape or a scalable object. I've been making logos in Photoshop which need to be scalable and I've been heavily reliant on the stroke tool.

Else is there a way to create a vector outline? Like expanding a selection only with shapes?

Cheers,

I know that CS2 has the ability for you to preserve the resolution of an image when you scale it so that it can be unscaled any time in the future.

I'm afraid I don't entirely understand what you mean in the second question, though I believe vectors are only editable in Illustrator, not in Photoshop (But don't quote me on that).

The shapes in Photoshop are vectors, as is text.

I'm not referring to preserving resolution but converting the outline that's created with the 'layer style' to a shape object. You can as a rasterised layer, though I want to preserve it as a scalable object.

Try this Henry: Highlight the layer with the layer styles then go to Layer> Layer Style> Create Layer. This puts your stroke layer style on it's own layer, making it independantly editable.

This is just a guess, but I'm also betting you could group the layer with the text to scale both text and style by the same amount (if text is part of your problem).

Yes but unfortunately it makes a rasterised layer, rather than a shape. Thanks all the same.
