Converting many .NEG files to .JPG

Postby DanTheMan on Wed May 02, 2007 1:57 am

Hi,
Is there an easy way I can convert maybe 100 raw pics to jpg? Aside from doing it one photo at a time.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I recommend using the stand alone program IrfanView

freeware at: http://www.irfanview.com/

Hello Dan,
I think you can do it in photoshop using the 'Actions' window.
1. Create a new folder to store your new jpegs in
1. Open one of your neg files.
2. Create a new action using the icon at the bottom and call your action 'neg to jpeg'
3. Press record
4. Save the neg as a jpeg in your new folder
5. Close the neg file
6. Press stop. The action will then stop recording
6. You then need to do this to the rest using the 'Batch' method. Go into 'file', then 'automate', then 'batch'. Choose the set 'neg to jpeg', and choose which folder you want them to come from and then go to, and it should do the lot.

This may be slilghtly wrong, but it is something like that. If i have got any of it wrong, just look up batch on the internet, and it will tell you how.

Hope this works,
Becca

Bexy is right, you can use actions to do it.

But when you create your action it will make you designate a combination of keys to execute that action. (Shift - F2 is what I use mostly when i'm doing actions.)

So basicly all you have to do would be to press Shift - F2 everytime a new image popped up, and it would save it as a .jpg.

Good luck!

Load them into bridge, then go Select all, Tools>photoshop>image processor. It's all built in. You can even resize, run an action or add ©.

Right on! I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow and make someone who's been waiting a year for pics very happy.
Thanks everyone!
