Correcting color photo, and lightening background

Postby rgvjames on Thu Jul 21, 2011 6:24 am

Hi,
I need to remove the dark edges/corners of the photos and lighten both the objects & the background.

The objects were actually taken on a white background.
In photo 1, the objects are rainbow colored.
In photo 3, the objects are purely black (on white background).

If anyone with experience in Photoshop/image editing could provide some guidance or direct me to a similar post on this forum, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

hi,
i am no expert but maybe can helpsome...

sometimes it helps to understand how something was done
i believe what they did.. they had the rings on a seperate layer

then had fill layer of that off white color....
and then they used the burn tool darken the edges. or some
people would maybe call it alittle vigentte ..

you want to eliminate the shadow/the vigette of the background...

i would maybe create a good mask of the ring, to protect it, maybe include the shadow under
the rings... orre add them later....

after that a couple of differentway
1. use the dodge tool to lighten all the shadow ....
use a large diameter and just paint away...
2, or since you have rings mask off... choose the color you want for the background and just either paint or use the paint bucket...
3, you could use the shadow/highlight... although i wasn't that satisfied with it...

those are my thoughts those are probably not the only ways to do it.... there bound to be others...lol... wit hphotoshop...

Thanks Jerryb! I ended up either masking the objects and screening OR adjusting the curves, whichever gave a better result.
