create Flashlight Logo

Hi there

I am really new to PHotoshop, and need your help to create a "flashlight" for a logo.
The flashlight will need to lie on its side, with light shining out

If i just use clipart for the flashlight, how do I create the "light" coming out of the flashlight?

hi,

different ways to do it...
this is just one way
1. 1st layer have flashlight
2. then a new blank layer
3. you can use the trapazoid tool
4. assigne a nice freather setting for it....
5. then draw the outline/selection of the beam you want..
note : if need to adjust the shape alittle then at this point use your quickmask.. ortherwise....
6. then fill it with your color of choice....
7. then add a layer mask
8. then use your gradient tool and choose your smooth white to black

at this point you should see the light comming out of the flashlight strong but then fading ...

if the logo is going to have a solid color background then you can save either in gif or png.... however the background is going to be transparent... then you need to save in png...... since gif doesn't recognize fading....
