Dark photoshop images

Postby drtom on Sun Jul 22, 2007 3:50 pm

My images in Photoshop CS2 are very dark. My printer/printer paper and monitor have been profiled. The same images viewed on the same monitor in Irfanview and even ImageReady are not dark and accurately match the printed images.

I load files shot in Canon .CR2 raw and then do everything in Adobe RGB. My color settings are Custom -> Adobe RGB. I even tried to put the printer profile in there and it didn't help. I suppose there is a setting that is wrong, but I've tried everything I know.

Have you adjusted the brightness or contrast controls on your monitor since you profiled it? If so, you have probably thrown the profile off.

Also, check the Color Settings to see if the "Blend RGB colors using gamma" is marked. If it is, uncheck it. This allows Photoshop's algorithms to match most other applications.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. It seems that if it had anything to do with the monitor profile, an image viewed in various viewers would all show the problem. Even the image in the "Print With Preview" window is correct. That is, it appears to be using the correst printer profile.

"Blend RGB colers using gamma" is unchecked.

Thanks again. Any other thoughts?
