how do u create them?

You make a new file 1x2 pixels and you make the upper pixel black and the other you leave transparent (be sure to be transparen) and then go to Edit/Define pattern

Ok, my bad, make it 2x1 and make the left one black and the right one leave transparent

wouldnt it be 2x2 with top-left and bottom right filled, and top right, bottom left transparent??
