Dynamic content in Static HTML page

Dynamic content in Static HTML page

Postby praveenkhm on Thu Jan 27, 2011 12:05 pm

Hi,

This is my first post and please be kind for my noob questions if any.

I have a website with all static content. However, the only requirement for dynamic content is in the sidebar. I want this particular sidebar to pull details from, maybe another text file or any other page and display. I am ok with javascript, however not ok with any other programming languages like php, asp .net etc.

To reiterate, all I need is just a sidebar which can pull details from another location. This sidebar is used to display recent articles which are written and I need to keep updating it always. (Ofcourse I do not want to keep changing content in each pages everytime and upload).

All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Praveen

Not sure if you've figured this out by now.

I'm not a JS programmer, but your problem would be better solved using PHP in my opinion. You would need some type of content management system where you'd input the data and save it to a database.

Then the sidebar you mention would pull the data you want from this database automatically when it's loaded by a user.

Firstly, you probably would have had better response posting this on a PHP forum. Secondly, if you google "PHP and MySQL" you'll get plenty of material to start out with and see what i mean.

Hope this gets you going.
