hi ismisejoe,,

well been playing around and try to come up with basic flow and this is what i cam up with... i can't remembere each little step but the gist of it...

Image

and what i did
1. dupli layer
2. then i did a catus selection and copy and paste to a seperate layer
3. i also on the dup layer i remove the catus left a nice blank area which i filled with a blue color there other ways to do it but that the way i did...
4. then then i used healling tool and clone tool to have the whole sky look as one..
5. then i worked on the catus layer.... i used primarily the transfrom tool to make the catus smaller .... and yet at the same keep the base of the catus where it looked ok at the bottom as far as width...
6. then i did a copy and paste on one top of the arms and put that on top of the catus so it would have top... flat top wouldn't look rights.. smiling...

basically it.... many times just take patience and trial and error on what works best... now the image is far from perfect it still has lot of little work on it...
there still a hint of blue on the catus... and playing around replace color or one of the other tools to eliminate that blue tint... but you get the idea.... i don't if it any better than yours but this what i came up with

I'm sure I started this a while ago, but must have lost it in the great hardrive cleanup of 2011.

Anyhow, here's my version

Image.

I treated the cactus in much the same way as others, but copied a section of sky to repair the back of the cactus and used the clone tool on luminosity to tidy it up.

I took it a bit further and colour corrected, sharpened and increased the contrast to give it a more 3 dimensional look and bring out some detail in the bushes. Here's the final stack.

hi ismisjoe,
been playing around a lttle bit more.. now one of the things didn't really like i didn't spend enough time on the image i sent...

was that blue tint on the catus...

tried a coupl of things and so far the best that has worked for me...
have the catus selected...
then go to hue and saturation use edit>blue and adjust the saturation slide ....
it took out mostof the blue tint and sort of left the catus alittle greener..

hi,
it really all a matter of practice and experimentation what works best and what works best for you.. and the more you know about your tools abilities and techniques, (i save alot of tutorials..lol) the more easier you can think of certain solutions....

even though i have a old version (cs1) i am still learning little things about the tools....smiling... and what i can do with them
