No I do not want to stretch them. For example I have 1000's of images that are going on to a web page and they need to fit into a 800 x 800 box. Some will be 1600 x 800 (Want to make that to 800 x 400) and some will be 800 x 1600 (want to make it 400 x 800)

Is there a way to do this in one step?

Thanks

So when you say you want 800x800 images that's not what you mean at all... :!:

You'll get a much better answer if you're more specific with your question!

Try this out for size:

1 - Open one of your images
2 - Open the Actions panel and create a new Action. Click 'Record'
3 - Choose 'File > Automate > Fit Image' and set Width and Height to 800px
4 - Choose 'File > Save For Web & Devices' and run through your saving/optimising process. (File > Save As or File > Save will work as well)
5 - Close your image
6 - Hit 'Stop' on the Actions panel
7 - Choose 'File > Automate > Batch'
8 - In the 'Action' box, select the action that you just created. Specify your source and destination folders as required and then click OK.

I did not say I wanted 800 x 800 images, I said I wanted them to constrain to 800 x 800.

Anyways...

Thank you very much for your time and information! That is exactly what I needed.

I still maintain that 'constrain to 800x800px' and 'fit inside an 800x800px square' are completely different concepts, but whatever.
Glad you got the problem sorted. :)
