What do I need to get started with PHP and where can i get that from? I downloaded some sort of a compiler but I dont know if it is correct or not. It didnt seem to have an executable file :?

Install apache and php on your computer. You can either download apache and php separately and "connect" them.

http://httpd.apache.org/ & http://www.php.net/downloads.php

Or you can take a package which has them both pre-installed (comes with a lot of other stuff too):

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

If you have time I suggest you install and set up them from scratch. There should be somewhere on php.net a tutorial how to do this. You'll learn atleast something :)

thanx for the links. I have successfully installed PHP on my computer now. But now where do i read about the very basics of PHP?

Or go to the library and see if there's any books about php (or buy one)

I learnt the basics of php trough Matt Zandstra's book about php. Starts from the basics plus it's easy to understand.
