.gif files freezes

Hi. I'm not sure if it's right to post here, but I suggest so.

Sometimes when I save a .gif file from the internet, the .gif animation stops when I open at from my hard drive.
It's usually some of the larger files that stops when opening it with the picture viewer. At the same time, it also happens to show the animation much slower than when I view it on the browser.

Anyone have a clue some GIF files does this, and how I can prevent it?

What image viewer are you using? Try Irfan View.

The problem seems to be in overloaded CPU, your image viewer is probably causing that problem, although it may be some background process that uses a lot of CPU (look at task manager while the .gif is opened) or even some virus.

I'm just using the standard Windows image viewer.

I don't think that's the case. The computer has no problem running tougher things than that (watching vidoes, playing games in highest resolution, etc.). I think it has something to do with the saved files.

Although I will try out the Irfan viewer you mentioned.
