Gradient for opacity

Postby rio38 on Thu May 17, 2007 6:45 pm

I would like to use an exisitng image, but use a gradient to alter the opacity. I would liek the image to have 100% opacity on the left adn right side, but have around 15% opacity in the middle with a smooth gradient to each level of opacity.

I can configure the gradient tool to create a gradient pattern I like, but how do I make it effect the opacity of the image instead of painting a gradient on the image?

Thank you very much.

add a layer mask to the image, and then apply a white to dark grey gradient to the mask.

hope that helps. :)

Thank you very much. I was just in the middle of trying that because I found something similar in the tutorials section. Worked like a charm.
