Half request, half help

Hi guys, first things first, here's the image:



What I request: I want to remove the shirt "background" and keep only the white design and lettering. That's all I'm asking for.

How would one approach this? I want the background uncolored and transparent as if I can just take the design and place it where I want over another picture.

Thanks in advance! I'm pretty new to photoshop so even though I'm asking for the work to be done I'd like a little run-by for future use! ^_^

select the color you want, copy it, paste it,(you will have a new layer of just the selection close the first layer, save it as a png.........done
