Having problems with layer style when transforming the text.

Postby frank3082 on Sat Sep 05, 2009 4:00 am

Hi Everyone,

I have come across a probelm in photoshop cs4 and i was wondering if there is a solution to the problem....I have attached a jpg file...

So the image on the left with the logo and dog.image size is 850x180 ..resolution is 72....

I have to create a banner the size is 2376x 6048 and resolution is 300

What i did was drag the letter (a) from the logo file into the new banner file...now i have to enlarge the letter...so the image by default is really small and the layer style is the same as origianl file....but here is the problem as i use the transform tool and enlarge the letter...the entire layer style begins to change and does not retain the original style...as you can see the iamge, the difference betwen the layer styles of the two images....now this is the issue i am facing...please help..is there a soluiotn to this problem...

thank you

check the angle of the bevel emboss you have on the small and big. It looks different to me

If you still have the original, un-rasterized file with the original layer styles for that letter, I would increase the font size in the Text toolbar instead of using the transform tool. That shouldn't mess with the layer style.

The problem when you use the transform tool with un-rasterized text is that it doesn't necessarily transform the layer style associated with that text, so the layer style still thinks you have a smaller letter "a" and it's applying all it's mathematical stuff accordingly, so it looks different.

If you do not have the original file with the original layer styles, then I would just make a new file and use the Text tool to make another letter "a" in the same font type, only with a much bigger size, and then remake the layer styles from the original letter "a" one-by-one, which is of course more time consuming but I bet it would look identical.
