Help uploading a homepage

Hi There, I'm new here and can't find the info I need to upload a homepage. I have managed to upload other pages e.g. www....com/gallery.html and www....com/contact.html etc, but when I type in the www.......com only as the first page, what do I do with regards to uploading a file so that when I type in the website a page comes up? Because all files are named how does this work, without typing words after .com in the address bar?

ok, I've found it.... index.html

yes, most servers will search for an index.html file. you can also use index.php. it will find that too (when the time comes to it )
