Hey guys,
I've done quite a bit of design work but never really needed to work with photographs until now. So as you can imagine I've got very basic Photoshop skills but have one heck of a project on my hands!
I need to cut out a photograph of a person who is white, wearing a almost white blazer, standing in front of a pure white background!!! What's worse is that 1) this is the only possible image I can use 2) hes got dark messy/scattered hair and 3) It all needs to be cut out and placed on a very dark background meaning the cut out needs to be as perfect as possible!! Keep in mind I barely know which tool to use and how
How do I go about doing this with professional quality? Luckily the photograph is high res...
Thanks!! |

| You've got to use the Pen Tool, but i have to say that the way you've described it , it really does sound like a hard task, plus you need alot of practice before yout good with the Pen Tool |

If you're THAT new, i'd use the polygonal lasso tool over the pen (it's less confusing) and just remember that short segments (click lots of times as you trace around the image) CAN make pretty good curves.
Post up the pic and ppl will give it a shot... or share the love and hire one of us
Good Luck! |

| I find it easier to cute out the hair as closely as possible and add some random strands later using the smudge tool. |

| Dude, two options either create new path and use pen tool to go round OR quick mask tool where you just colour in the parts you want once down turn off invert selection cut paste into a new window right click layer blending options outer glow and mess around with the colour of the glow as well as the size (or just feather tool) |
