hey girls and guys can i have some comments

Postby dazz_club on Wed Dec 20, 2006 4:40 pm

hi guys,

im working on a website for a shopping outlet factory. at the moment they have an online presence and just came to me to jazz it up.

i can see it goin down the route of becoming an e-commerce site but first i just wann nail to look, the deadline is this friday.

there are some deadlinks i believe but im waiting for some info from the client.

ive looked into download speed and it sits at , i think, 24 secs, well over th 8 sec reccommended. but i feel a tweek here and there, i can lower it a bit down but im happy with the speed at the mo.

ive validated t and it has 30 errors, these i will sort out soon as, possibly tonight.

heres the original

http://www.tweedmill.co.uk

mine

http://www.tweedmill.co.uk/updateA/

there are the odd images that move about but i can sort most of these errors with css.

my only question i showed it to one person and they said in ie it looks messed up, but when i viewed it, it looked ok.

so all help and opinions are welcome.

cheers

First off, nice looking site!

I noticed the IE error I believe your friend was talking about and saved an image of the screen, since I don't know exactly how to describe it.

I imagine it is some kind of css issue, but not sure. Also, I noticed in Firefox 2 the list of pages at the bottom "Home | History | Cafe | ..." wraps down to the next line so "Site Map" is shown on the next line. Same thing happens with the copyright info under it as well.

Hope this helps.

cheers for your comments

that screen capture helps alot, i need to look into the css again for it to be better viewed in different resoultions, as when i veiw it in mine, using firefox and ie tab it looks fine. so some homework there.

and again, i need to create a tighter css for the site.

cheers again mate. :)

I just noticed the top of the page looks a little spaced out in IE as well so thought I would include an image of that as well.

Sure thing,

I tried to include that in my screen shot, but now that I look at it, it didn't come out as good as I thought it would. I'm using (and I use that term loosely since I hardly ever use IE):

IE version 6.0
Windows XP Pro SP2
1280 X 1024 resolution

Firefox Version: 2.0.0.1

Let me know if you need anything else.

hello again, i believe ive sorted out the overall appearance of this site.
now all i have to do is.

see why in ie the page scrolls down.

sort out the images that tend to move about from page to page and then lookinto sorting out the banner.

hi mwa103,

can i ask you to check it out and see if the pages look a bit weird, oh can you use I.E ( any version 6/7 ).

http://www.tweedmill.co.uk/updateA/

on my screen and on the settings i use to change the resolution and nothing appears out the ordinary except the huge scrolling on the right hand side.

cheers for your help.

I'm still getting the same problem in IE (spacing between items causing page to be longer). Maybe it's just my browser? Is anybody else seeing the same thing?

Hope you can find the answer, the site looks really good in FF!
