How can I make it realistic?

Postby fismumriken on Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:37 pm

Hey there! I'm a swedish beginner at photoshop cs5. I love to make som dark art, but I'm not good at it. I looked at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCajZt-q ... re=related. When he make some blood, running from the nose, I can't see what effects he used. He paint the blood twice and then use an effect who make it look like blood. How do he do this?
I can't find any good guides:(

looks like he actually uses 3 colors on the blood rather than 2. Looks like he put a small drop shadow on it, inner shadow. bevel&emboss and changed the gloss contour to 'cone' with contour with a range of about 50% and added a texture to the bevel and emboss, not sure what pattern he uses for that.. Also Satin, with cone - inverted contour and what i think is a multiply blending mode.

It's really hard to see though the actual settings for it though and not knowing his image size it's hard to guess on some of the bevel and shadow sizes.. I would ask him on his youtube page or message him privately, he seems fairly active in responding to comments.

try downloading these 2 free styles and dissect them and play around with the settings till you come up with something, it will be good practice

I think I have a blood style already made here, i'll take a looksie and if I do I will post it for you to download so you can see how I did it

here is 2 styles I made a long time ago, they may not exactly be what you need but play around with them, bevels size, contour shapes, color(I put the color right in the color fill layer style). I forget what I used them for, if I even did, I think it was for a large font. That shiny blood/liquid effect is mostly in the bevel and emboss layer style..

good luck

put the asl files in programs/photoshop/presets/styles folder and the next time you start photo shop they will be available. With your styles window open, click the little arrow at the top right of it and a drop down menu will appear with all your styles.

I tried these styles you guys told me to try, but I didn't saw realism in it though... I'm very interested in dark art and want to make people like zombies and vampires etc.

No good guides? I haven't found any yet :/

you will have to play with the styles settings I'm sure

If you are not too familiar with 'layer styles' I would start searching youtube for that, just to get the general gist of it, as there is quite a bit going on there

here is another free layer style for blood i found on the web: http://www.peterplastic.com/2009/10/blo ... photoshop/

also try these next to links, there's another tutorials i think that will be right up your alley, just to get an overall feel on how to accomplish some blood and gore and stuff:

Just curious, have you made the shape or anything that you want to make look like real blood?

Okay thanks man! I'll check som videos. Do you guys have a special technique do get the picture and the blood to melt together? :)

I'm a real noob... What do you mean with "made a shape"? I opened the styles, started drawing some blood. But I didn't find it so nice together with the picture.

hi,
those music type videos are almost worthless.... there runing way to fast and music in the background to distracting. to be a useful tutorial...

there a lot of tutorials on making blood, you have blood splatters and blood drips etc....

my ad vice start with some basic tutorials and work from there... practice is what become important... to get tha realistic effect..... and you understand what thier doing... below several text and graphic tutorials.... you'll find that the basic procedures are about the same it just maby add a little blending or dodge and burn ..

now here a couple of tutorial

http://users.telenet.be/wotsa/downloadtutorial/2.htm

http://www.bluesfear.com/tutorials/Blood.htm

http://www.tutcity.com/view/creating-re ... .1207.html

and there ton's more... also if you need to have a glistening effect... use your chrome filter on that or a little dodge and burn ...
