Hi there guys... I am new on that photoshop world, actually I want to start editing some pictures, learning about filters, effects, etc.

To start, I wanted to make a picture look like these:






Can you guys give me few tips about how to start?

that is a very easy thing to do once you know the basics.
You can select the face or head then select inverse and apply black So many ways to do that I'm really stumped at where to begin.Under>Filter> Render > light effects could work try a tutorial about light effects
