how to extract data from tif image to editable word document

Postby mark123 on Thu Dec 30, 2010 2:53 pm

hi ,
i have some document which are there in tif image format with 150 dpi resolution and i want to extract the data like alphabets, numbers, and all. So kindly suggest some direction to extract the data , .
Or is there any kind of software that will help me to get rid out of this problem. i have tried software like ocr converter, microsoft 2002, and tried the photoshop to enhance the resolution upto 300dpi but its not converting the data into actual format or words for example, 5 get converted to 6 where the resolution of 5 is not too much trasparent

because this data is very important for me to start my career.....

I think you're on the right track - look for some OCR software.

Here at my office, we use a piece of software called Paperport. You can just click and drag the file to the Microsoft Word icon and it takes you through a step-by-step process of converting the image to text.

It will even prompt you for words that it is "iffy" on

Sorry I can't offer any other suggestions for OCR software - Paperport is the only one I've used.
