how to make a chatbox appear in all the pages of a web page

how to make a chatbox appear in all the pages of a web page

Postby chubzyko on Sat Aug 02, 2008 9:40 am

haiya guys! i wanna do something with my site, i used frameset at first but i realize that it would be much better if the whole page can be scrolled. but the problem is, in the home page, the chat box is in its right side, but if i click another button and a new page comes up, the chat box disappears. well, the page that im talking about is a framset too wherein if a button is click, the html will be displayed in that frameset html too. i found some forum wherein the whole page can be scrolled down, but if you go to other page, the chat box is still at its left side.

anyone who can help me with that please?

amn, that's not what I actually wanna do. The link that you give is like the object on the left is floating. ok, my page goes something like this, frameset with 3 columns, the first is named "left.html" it is where my buttons are, 2nd "mid.html", then the "chat.html". What I wanna do is, eventhough the mid and the chat.html is in frame, they will still be able to scroll down at the same time.

Or is there other way wherein I can make the chat box show eventhough i put the chat box iside the mid.html? and when I clicked a link button, the chat box will still be shown in that page.

Okay, why would you do it with frames btw? Your page would'nt be SE friendly.

Frames are evil ;)

Fames are evil. From the sound of what you are describing you sound like you are essentially making a basic website overly complicated.

Instead of a Frame for your links, content and chat box.
I would just make everythign a static site and use what Rangana suggested. It will give pretty well the same affect and be alot more SE and User friendly.

chubzyko: have a look at css, it makes layout easier and you only need to do it once. if you need a hand at it take a look at this site: Free CSS Templates. They have a wide range to choose from. or you can see how they make their layouts and have a go at it you're self. Its up to you.
