how to pass a variable value to a data report?

hi i'm having difficulty trying to pass a variable to data report can anyone help me?

here's an example i want to do:

i declared a global variable and named it SUM_VAR

its the result of a formula something like this

SUM_VAR = 1 + 1

now what i want to do is to pass the SUM_VAR to a label in data report but i can't do it, i tried using other examples but still no luck...
