I am not quite sure how to Ink

Here is the deal. There are three ways I know of inking. One is the "Use the ink pen over the drawing" technique (which I am afraid of using cause it may destroy the drawing), there is the "pen tool" technique (which gives me bad carpel tunnel syndrome), and there is the "note pad" technique (which means i have to buy one of those 300-1000 dollar notepads, which with my schooling and lack of job, i can not afford.)

Would someone please give me a good suggestion or two? I am sort of in a bind, and I would really like to get this inking thing down once and for all.

Do your first option - the ink pen - but rather than drawing onto the image draw onto an empty layer over the image so that you can erase any errors you may make without damaging the original image.
