Illustrator files cannot be opened

Recently I formatted the C drive of my computer and installed XP and reloaded CS & CS2 and later found out that my work files cannot be opened. Now I am in big trouble as I have lost most of my work files doen for the last 3-4 years. please help me to open these files. I am a Graphic Designer from Sri Lanka.
