Joing 2 Points in a Drawing Need some help please

Postby touchcrew on Thu Jun 28, 2007 7:33 pm

when you look at the image the arm is the same color as the shirt but I want to close the 2 points so that the arm can be one color and the shirt can be another how to I join the points and then make them 2 different areas. I am just learning Illustrator so thanks for any help.

Depends a lot on how the image has been drawn.

I think your best option would be to draw a black shape over the gap, select the two areas of black and weld them together (select all three black areas, select pathfinder, weld, expand). You should then be able to ungroup/uncompound the now seperate yellow areas and select just the arm to change that colour.

If the file is setup differently and this does not work, then try drawing a shape again, select the shape and the yellow shirt, select pathfinder>trim>expand. This should use the shape you drew to essentially cut the yellow in two.
