Layer Color Issue

Created a layer and assigned the color of gray. What I see is near white. Additionally, I found no way to establish the shade of gray. Attached please find image. Guidance sought

hi,
don't know how you went about getting that results... there different ways to accomplish...

1. create fill layer,,,, generally when you do you gget a little color picker windows to choose what shade of color you want and it fill it in once done....

2. or create a blank layer and then go to your colorpick to choose the right shade of grey for youforground color and then use your paint bucked to fill in thelayer...
