Postby watanabe on Thu May 10, 2007 2:04 am

I'm a newbie and I've started to learn photoshop :( . Can anyone help me how to do this lighting effect? And how to make the blue and green glints? I tried to use brush and blend, but the result is bad

uhhh what you can do is make a new layer on top of your old layer, fill it with black and set blending mode to color burn. Then take the radial gradiënt tool and select a color you want. Make some color zones on the black layer, and you'll see the result.

the lightning effect can be done by many different ways.
maybe the stock was a photo of the guys on a white background. Then you only need to do some brightness/contrast and maybe a levels effect. When it was taken on another background (dark), you first have to render the people, and then place them for a light background. But to get a really good result, you'll need very much experience with rendering.

another thing you can do to make lightened zones, is make a new layer, set blending mode to lighten (or overlay, if you use a white gradient) and then make some lightened zones with your gradiënt tool.

wel, just keep trying new things,,,
(btw, who made those pictures?)

And just to add something,
of course you can use the brush to make lightning effects!
Do something like this:
New layer1,
add a small 0%hardness white brush-dot to the layer.
New layer2, (drag this below layer1)
(say you want a green effect)
Add a larger 0%hardness green brush-dot to the layer.
Take out the smudge tool with 40% strenght and start smudning in and out from just outside the center of the green dot.
You can do this with the white dot as well if you wish.
Give them both some gaussian blur with filter>blur>gaussian blur.

You can try adding more layers with different colored dots if you want, you can also try with different blendin modes.
This method should work :)
