live paint won't paint

I have a shape I created that I want to fill with color and I connected all of the gaps, went to object>live paint>gap options and had it detect any gaps I may have missed and connect them, but it still won't let me paint it. Is there another way to fill it with color?? It's layer 2, but I didn't think that would make a difference and I know it is the layer I am working on...any ideas? Thanks.
