When I bring photoshop or word created text into illustrator and live trace it the straight lines become warped. If anyone knows any way to keep the lines true to original, please let me know.

sounds like a job for the pen tool

You mean point erasing and fixing after tracing, I suppose? That is what I do now. I was hoping to be able to do the tracing and nave the letters stay straight-edged.
