Guys I am trying to help a friend with a logo but what I was given to work with is terrible quality.
I need to seperate the different colored parts, but the color is such a mess I can't get them selected with the magic wand, how do you deal with this?
Thought I'd ask before I go in with the eraser =\ |

Luckily for you the colors are grainy but distinct. I took the original image --> ctrl+j to copy the image to a new layer. Then I guassian blurred the new layer to blend in the noise. That way each color is now distinct with no noise and you can use the magic wand tool to come in and select each color separately. Afterwhich I took the mask and cut out the color from the original image. Took me about 2 minutes total.
Here's the result. I didn't fiddle too much with the tolerance in the wand so some of them aren't that great but you can redo them now that you have a method.

The best thing would be to trace over the logo with the Pen Tool, and re create it. And re write the text. So that you don't blur the edges too much.
If you need help re creative the layers, I can help. For free, for a fellow Photoshopper. |

| If you don't mind, that would be great. I'm not very familiar with the pen tool at all. Also you don't have to worry about the words, they are going away anyways. |

I tried to match the colours to the original. Do you want me to change them?
Do you want me to send you any bigger sizes? |

Hey that's excellent, thanks a lot. I think the colors are fine, if not, I know how to do that much. That's the only size I need as well.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help. |
